WASHINGTON, July 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Citizen Outreach, a limited government advocacy organization, launched its new website today, saying its objective is to be a mainstream alternative to MoveOn.org, the leftwing grassroots activist organization which sprung up during Bill Clinton's impeachment. The new website can be accessed at http://www.citizenoutreach.com.
"MoveOn.org has a big, five-year head start on us and they are very well organized," notes Citizen Outreach President and CEO Chuck Muth. "But they're attracting the kooks and the flakes; the socialists and the anarchists; the blame-America-firsters and knee-jerk peaceniks. They huff and they puff and they blow around a lot of hot air, but there's no there there. These guys are nothing but the next generation of bleeding-heart McGovern liberals."
Muth also discounted MoveOn's claims of effective political action. "They lost in their effort to stop the impeachment and they lost their effort to stop the U.S. from removing Saddam Hussein," he said. "On their two signature issues, they're zero-for-two. Not a very impressive record."
Citizen Outreach currently publishes a free daily "News & Views" e- briefing for over 25,000 online activists which will appear on the new site's home page. In addition, activists will be encouraged to mobilize behind certain political actions via the site's "Brushfire Alerts."
There will also be a weekly online polling question featured on the site's "Survey Says!" page, along with "Muth's Truths" issue commentaries, press releases, copies of issue advocacy letters to government officials, an archive of one-hour "Always Right" webcast interviews with leading policy experts and eventually, samples of the organization's full-page newspaper print ads.
"Our website is simple and our message is simple: Government isn't the solution, it's the problem," said Muth. "You won't find a lot of bells and whistles on our site, just an online home for people who are tired of ever-expanding government -- regardless of which party is in charge -- and who want to do something about it."
