[Huck]

I have liberal friends that constantly tell me Conservatism is merely survival of the fittest – kill or be killed – eat or be eaten. I always objected to the categorization but people like Huck make me wonder if they might be onto something.

They have conservatism confused with free market capitalism.

The question seems to me to be:

...In a Free Market Economy, is the Market itself "for sale"....

....and, as to the "role of government".....when the government itself is seen to a an active participant in the economy, making money for certain interests at the expense of others.....is this not the definition of corruption ?
