Let's Get a Bob Hope Commemorative Stamp Issued Soon!

U. S. postal regulations require that a person (with the exception of a President) must be dead at least 10 years before a stamp honoring him is issued. I believe exceptions have been made before for Sir Winston Churchill and Walt Disney. Given the late Bob Hope's accomplishments in stage, film, radio, and television, plus his tireless work entertaining our troops from World War II to Desert Storm, I recommend that fellow FReepers contact the U. S. Postal Service through the link below and request that a stamp commemorating Bob be issued as soon as possible, thereby making an exception to the 10-year rule.

Thanks for the memories, Bob. You made your country proud.

Why he already has a navy ship named after him?

I support that idea, but let's make sure it's self-sticking, lest we find ourselves licking the backside of a geriatric comedian.

He does? I know that there is a C-17 named in his honor, for sure, but a ship?

Sounds good to me.
But do you really think you'll be able to find a congresscritter willing to sponsor such a bill?

I didn't like the "exceptions" being made to rename place names after dead US soldiers of politically protected races, and I don't like it now.

How about a series of Hope stamps? Perhaps three: Vaudeville/early Hope; mid-career Hope; late-career Hope.

But do you really think you'll be able to find a congresscritter willing to sponsor such a bill? There'll be a huge line of Congress members more than willing to sponsor such a bill to make a Bob Hope stamp available as soon as possible. Especially when you consider Hope's long and distinguished career in the entertainment industry and his tireless efforts to entertain our men and women in uniform through the United Services Organization (USO) from 1941 to 1991.
