"As governor, Bush attacked Clinton for the monuments when he campaigned in the West. Dick Cheney did the same thing. Cheney said if he were president he would revoke the monuments. The rhetoric was very strong against the monuments," said Mr. Pendley, who added he believes many Westerners voted for that promise.

Many of us out in the west are watching, waiting, hoping and praying. We'll wait and see what the final outcome is. I know this, Boise Cascade, the company my wife works for, was hurt badly. A LOT of small town people were laid off and are out of work because of those unconstitutional initiatives. My wife was lucky to get through that, but a lot of people we know did not. President Bush simply has to do what is right here.

If these actions are allowed to pass...and if the DOI continues its actions regarding water and land rights...support will erode.
