How do you KNOW Bush thought it was correct when he used erroneous intelligence as an excuse to take out Saddam?
It appears to this observer that "dub ya" wanted to take out Saddam at any cost. And, the cost is high indeed. Like running the largest deficits in history to pay for the war and tax cuts. Alienating the Arab world, as well as the UN and close allies will have repercussions for years to come.
Foremost, Bush seems to have forgotten the principles that differentiate America from totalitarian states by acting as judge, jury and executioneer of thousands of alleged terrorists. Lastly, Bush has the US bogged down in a guerilla street war with US troops being picked off everyday and not much we can do about it.
Was Saddam really a threat after the first Gulf War and subsequent bombings and sanctions? Frankly, I doubt it and it may that terrorist incidents will actually INCREASE as a result of America's impetuous actions.
Of course, the military benefits greatly from skewed expenditures to finance ill-conceived aggression and Cheny's Haliburton is the prime reconstruction contractor.
Greed and arrogance didnt triumph over reason and common sense... or did it?
