A read part of this story a couple of weeks ago. Government bureaucracy gone insane. I feel for the ol' boy who invested eight years of his life to make a valuable enterprise pay off. I hope he sues and wins for unlawful taking of property.

This must be Durk and Sandy of "Life Extension" fame.
I always wondered what happened to them.

"The spring fish are intriguing, actually. They have intriguing behaviors. So if the Endangered Species Act didn't apply to private property I'd put them in all my hot springs. But since it does, good riddance."

Figures.

In my town, magnolia and live oaks are "protected." Now hardly anyone plants them ecause once they reach a certain height, you can't cut them down even if you wanted to.

Aaah, unintended consequences!

You said it pal. I'm really starting to laugh at some of these.

Durk and Sandy sure get around. They also wrote Clint Eastwood's last "Dirty Harry" movie, THE DEAD POOL.

8 years of trying to earn an honest living down the tubes. How infuriating.

This is in my neck of the woods. Mina is not far from here. There are terrorists running around the country trying to kill us and the Feds send a hit squad to put a lobster rancher in the middle of nowhere out of business?

They weren't lobsters ~ just crawdads that looked like lobsters at some point in their lifecycle.

Besides that, they were a non-native, invasive species, kind of like starlings and danderlions, neither of which the fish and game guys are trying to eradicate.

I think good, red-blooded 'Muricans should eat good, red-blooded crawdads taken from their castles in the bottoms anyway. That's what my grandparents did, and if they did it, it's good enough for me!

I understand where you are coming from, the point I was making was that this was a full on swat team raid on a harmlesss guy, just trying to make a living in the middle of nowhere, which I must tell you, is quite difficult.

I met this "Lobster guy' a couple of years ago, there is no way his "livestock" could have gotten into the springs with the endangered fish.

P.S. Dandelions make a great salad and starlings can be made into a meat pie.

Me too. I tried to find some info on them several years ago.
I have 2 of their books around here somewhere."Life Extension" and a sequel.
Much in those books was way ahead of its time.(Anti-oxidants , minoxidil, for instance)

He used to guest on the Merv Griffin Show I believe. Very very bright man.
