[history]
The rule-busting California gubernatorial recall election took a turn for the bizarre Friday as author-columnist Arianna Huffington appeared ready to kick off an independent run to replace Democratic Gov. Gray Davis, and her ex-husband, former Rep. Michael Huffington, prepared to run as a Republican.

Ahnold is crazy not to run. Standing next to that lineup of Minelli wedding guests, he'll look tailor-made for the job.

But Terry promised us not one Dim would run...

after Michael Huffington announced he was gay. Is this what made Arianna looney or was she always that way?

Meanwhile, supporters of former Democratic Rep. Gary Condit say the congressman -- whose life is the subject of a documentary called "Public Service: The Private Campaign of Gary Condit," to premiere Aug. 8 in Sacramento -- is being urged to consider a run as a Democrat. Con-did-it migrated here to AZ (just north of Phoenix) several months ago. Kalifornia may have him back, thank you very much.

But Terry promised us not one Dim would run... By Aug 9 there will probably be more RATS than GOP ... Then let Grayout try to say it is a Right Wing Conspiracy. By entering you are giving tacit approval for the recall.

"She ran as a Green and in a few months, most of her staff quit, then she registered independent and was driven out of office. Then she threatened Barbara Lee and withdrew from that," said Democratic Party campaign adviser Bob Mulholland. "These announcements must be on her free time from the clinic." More caring and compassion from the left. I still giggle about the night Mark Levin called him "a third-rate Carville" on Hannity and Colmes during Monicagate. You could swear a blood vessel burst in his temple he was so angry.

And some folks are worried about
Simon getting in?
1. Did Arianna ever get naturalized? Believe it or not, there are still some things in California you can only do if you're a US citizen, and running for governor is one of them.
2. Mike, give it up. You were okay against Feinstein, not great. Now, you're too exotic for the Republicans, and not exotic enough for the Dems.
3. Dick, forget about it. You had the inside track to the nomination last year. You had basically a Presidential endorsement from Dubya. And you got thumped by twenty points by a rookie. Besides, I've seen you speak on the tube. Not that Gray's hellfire on the stump, either, but he's better than you.
4. Gary, Gary, Gary...I've heard of politicians having "skeletons in their closets", but you're one of a select few for whom it's literally true. If you think you're going anywhere in this race, you're smoking the sticky icky.
5. I'd kind of like to see Arnold run, if for no other reason than to see if he'd cross Poppy Bush's pledge with one of his lines from the original "Terminator": "John Burton and Herb Wesson will push me to raise taxes, and I will say no. They will push me again and I will say no. And they will push me one more time, and I will say, '**** you...***holes.'"

(There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's the Gray Davis campaign fund.)
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
Condit knows he would have no chance. He would do it just to poke a finger in Davis's eye.
To: Canticle_of_Deborah; Ernest_at_the_Beach
I knew Condit would get in there somewhere. Now we need O.J. to run on a ``killer in every pot'' platform.
