I like Jeff Bridges. Especially in Starman and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. But he is a total LEFTIST.

You know, that sounds very much like the thesis in LITERATURE LOST, a book by a conservative English lit professor, who says that the seeds of anti-western bias are found within the Western tradition itself. That we are inherently self-critical, which is our strength yet can be our weakness as well.... when I get home in a few hours I'll dig it up and produce something more coherent.

Spy Kids was a complete waste of money. My 5 year old loved it but even my 9 year old wasn't impressed. Clooney had about 5 minutes in the whole movie but because he played the President he turned my stomache. The message of the movie was "It Takes A Village". I couldn't wait for it to end and get out of the theater. All of you with kids, go see Pirates again instead of this movie.

The Spy Kids franchise has been shot in Austin, Texas and I sure that there are a lot of liberals in the production team. Doesn't mean that Robert Rodriguez is a liberal or that he would taint his film with his politics but I'd suspect that the crew who made these films were more liberal than Hollywood union film crews.
I was up in Austin this weekend. It seems that every local publication gave lots and lots of ink (several pages of coverage and often the cover). Even with that ra-ra cheerleading, a critic gave it only 2 out of 4 or 5 stars.
I haven't seen any of them. I haven't been amazed by Robert Rodriguezes films. I may see the Spy Kids films sometime; I hear that the studio issued the longer director's edit of the first film when they realized that it was better but I don't think that is the version that is on home video.
I've been buying the 60s spy films on DVD instead (which are far better than any made in other decades, especially if they aren't to be taken seriously).

Disney is private company. If you want to change it, go buy stock in it until you have a controlling interest; that is if you have the money to do so. ;P Actually, divesting of Disney stock and boycotting the company and it's subsidiaries will put them out of business. Disney stock has been a bad investment for years.
The libs got outraged when Governor Bush divested the state from investing in Disney. Some said that they would buy stock in Disney to spite him. The stock tanked afterwards (1998). The stock recovered years later only to tank again.
"Buying out" Salon would be a bad idea too, they are only saved from going out of business by an occasional shot in the arm from a liberal benifactor.
For those who are having a hard time reading that logrithmic graph, here's the market price for Salon at the end of today: Last Trade Jul 21, 2003 (0.03)

I knew that. Also the more I think about it, a complete boycott does not work, unless you want bankrupt them, which serves no purpose except to make them martyrs.
If we completely boycott them, they will just quit trying to please the U.S. market and focus solely on the rest of the World's markets and they will continue to produce more and more Anti-American crap.
I have come to the opinion that selective boycotting may yield better results, for example, we still boycott the movies Hollywood produces that are dumb, stupid and just plain crap, but if a movie comes out that is truly great, like the Lord of the Rings movies or just fun, but smart with a good plot, like Pirates of the Caribbean. We go watch it.
It will eventually sink into their heads that this movie will make you money and this movie won't. Or they will lose so much money that someone else will take control and capture the U.S. market for themselves.
We must find a balance between the carrot and the stick, just using one of them will not yield the results we want.
