Fascinating.

Under Bentinck, proselytizing by Christian missionaries in India, long opposed by a colonial regime studiously committed to non-interference in cultural matters, was legalized.

There's a lesson here about "celebrating diversity" which is not difficult to grasp. Small wonder that this story is never told.

I know a well-educated woman in her mid-20s who was unaware of the horrific practices of Mayan religion. However, she is well aware of the atrocities of the Spanish explorers...
