It's quite simple really. It's a testimony to the power of God's grace. God is eternal, that is timeless. The salvation brought to humankind by the blood of Christ stands at the pinnacle of all history. St. Luke calls Mary "full of grace". Full of grace means there is no room for sin. There is no way for anyone to be full of grace except by the cross of Jesus. There is nothing about the role of Mary in salvation that can be separated from the salvation brought by Christ. Because of grace we are a new creation, a new humanity. So on a mystical spiritual plain just as Eve is the mother of all creation born of sin so Mary becomes the mother of the new creation born by grace.

And as you know that grace happens when one comes to the cross of Christ and accepts Jesus as personal Lord and Savior.

Believe it or not I do agree with you that there are some Catholics who carry their devotion to Mary too far to the point of turning her into a goddess. But God chose her to be the Mother of my Lord so who am I to argue with His choice.

Dead wrong, no argument, and no argument, respectively.

Now back to 346.
