Why would you eliminate the least socialist of the group first, granting power and victory to the demmocrats, thereby dooming your effort from the start?

I'd like to answer that if I may.

I for one may or may not wind up voting for GWB in 2004. Even if I do, I'm certain that I will never, ever go into the street for him (or anyone else in his family)ever again.

It's not that I would avoid grass roots activity out of spite or revenge, it's just that I'm not motivated. I would have went to jail for GWB (thank God I didn't) 3 years ago and now I'd be hard pressed to take the time out of my day to pull a lever for him. If you want to know the truth if the election were right now, I'd feel like I was going against my conscience and convictions by voting for such a person.

People could threaten all they like with comments like "would you rather have a dem" or some such, but that doesn't change how one feels about things they hold dear. people can say "you better or else" all they like, but people aren't inspired by fear.

The fatal flaw in the Bush supporters tact was not just to ignore the conservative elements within the party, but to actually attack and make an enemy of it. This to me is an awful mistake which forces the party/team to rely on "mercenary" dems and fickle fair weather friends.

Pardon me if I work to re-elect the only person who is even remotely capable of implementing a few conservative policies and holding the democrats at bay, while ppotecting the nation.

You can stand on the sidelines and complain. My sister and my husband will pick up the slack.
