I like having the government in debt to us.

Since they (government) control the currency and can inflate away the value of the dollars they pay to Americans, I'd say your assessment has to be one of the dumbest things I've heard.

Sure they can inflate away the value. But I would rather have it this way than the government using a surplus to buy into the private sector. Anyway, obviously the government doesn't have an inflation agenda, seeing how the dollar has actually increased in value over the past 5 years until recently.

Not to mention that it is virtually impossible for this u.s. government to have an inflation agenda, as the different parts of government are so separated from each other that would create huge conflict and it would simply not happen.
