As you well know, I've had a lot of experience with cancer of the brain during the past two years and therefore have learned a great deal about the various treatment options available to a cancer survivor. While your mom and I are faced with two totally different diseases, I'd like to make you aware of a new radiation device that recently became available at the Anne Arundel Medical Center hospital called Novalis.
"Novalis stereotactic radiosurgery uses highly focused beams of radiation to treat brain cancer with the highest level of accuracy." While I myself have not had a need for this type of radiation so far, there may come a time when this will extend / save my life. I believe Novalis is the next generation Gamma / Cyber Knife. Here's a link to their page: AAMC: Radiosurgery: Novalis". In the picture, the second doctor from the right (Dr. Thomas Ducker) is the neurosurgeon who performed my brain surgery. I don't know if they use Novilas to treat brain mets but it certainly can't hurt to call them and check it out. Call the Novalis Oncology Navigator at (443)481-5801, her name is Caelyn Kappeler.
