Hussein Sons Came To House to Hide
MOSUL, Iraq, July 23 -- Nawaf Zaidan Nasiri answered the front door of his elegant mansion 24 days ago and greeted a nightmare.
Standing there, he told his neighbors Tuesday, were sons of former president Saddam Hussein, Qusay and Uday, two of Iraq's three most-wanted fugitives, asking Zaidan to repay years of privilege and favors they had doled out to him.
"I answered the doorbell and there they were, right in front of my face," Zaidan told his neighbor, Mukhlis Thahir Jubori, as they sat in a U.S. military Humvee on Tuesday. Thahir recalled their conversation in an interview today. He said Zaidan had told him, "They asked to stay in my house and I could not refuse them. This is a disaster for me."

and tell me, why didn't he ask them, "hey, where's your dad?". you would think that sometime in the past 24 days, he would have asked them that.

Nawaf Zaidan Nasiri answered the front door of his elegant mansion 24 days ago and greeted a nightmare. Now we may have an idea of who the informant is.. His burned and Tow missiled lost house is no problem. He can build a new one for a lot less than the 30 million dollars he will get for turning them in.
I found it funny that this guy came out of the house and talked to our G.I.s That is what earlier press reports said. It is also interesting that this guys family got out of the house and only Saddams sons and companions were the only people in this house. The owner had family and very likely servants. None of them got hurt.!!!!!
It seems very likely that this dude is the informant. We had to be pretty certain they were in the house. And a neighbor or passer by who saw them go in , would not be that good a source. But there is not much way the a man who owns the house and lives in the house is going to tell our military that the sons are in his house if they are not.

You know it's happening somewhere in Iraq tonight. He has to be running out of places to stay.
If they pay this informant the money, he better start digging a hole.

Well, imagine what happens if you opened the door one day and saw Uday and Quesay on your doorstep.
"Let us in or we kill you," they say.
So you do. But obviously you would really rather get rid of them. So you inform on them to the US.
Seems to me you're doing that just as much to get the human cockroaches out of your house as to collect the reward. I think the reward is just a nice bonus, and payment for the destruction of your house :-).

I don't think he would. Why ? Because he knew better than to pry into their personal lives.
These boys were not the nice guys from the neighborhood. They killed people for sport. I'm amazed the guy could even sleep at night!

Tough choice...Let's see, on one hand you get the pleasure of entertaining "Bonnie and Clyde from HELL" knowing the feds are close on their heels and prepared to shoot on sight, or...you spend a dime and make $30mill. Ooooh...I'll have to think about that one. (sarcasm intended)

I don't know where this guy is going to go live, but it's not going to be Iraq. Apparently there's still a bit of a rats nest in that neighborhood that needs some cleaning out.
To: ambrose
That would be the greatest thing ever! You could have a conversation like this one:
Come on in Saddam! Make yourself at home, put your feet up. Comfy? Good. Good. Oh this? It's my rat-sucked old lee enfield, and it's going to be pointing at you until the Americans come to haul you to Gitmo. Thanks for the 30 million ol' pal.
I have a suspicion lots of people in Iraq are thinking something very similar. Tick tock.
To: Threepwood
These guys had been there for 24 days! If I were entertaining house guests like Saddam and sons for that long, I shudder to think of what condition they'd be in by then. They'd be begging for me to turn them in and collect the money already. :-)
