California Gov. Gray Davis: "I'm going to do the job the people asked me to do."
SACRAMENTO, California (CNN) -- Facing the likely prospect of becoming the first California governor placed on a recall ballot, Democrat Gray Davis on Wednesday attacked the GOP-led effort as a "hostile takeover by the right" and warned that ousting him would "slam [the state] into reverse."

"California Gov. Gray Davis: "I'm going to do the job the people asked me to do."That would have been a great strategy had it been implemented the day after he was sworn into office.

"....and warned that ousting him would "slam [the state] into reverse." I saw him making this idiotic statment on TV. He says the voters are happy about the direction he's going. Hah! Wakeup Davis, this is exactly what we are doing. Stopping the madness! Slamming on the brakes and reversing course before it's too late!!
Buh bye, Greyout Davis. Looks like it's gonna be mighty dark in your neighborhood for awhile. Another dim bulb blinks out.

A short while ago you made a great statement about why you support Bush in order to promote the conservative agenda. It was really good - and I want to find it!! Could you Freep me with it or post it somewhere prominent?? Please? My poor hot brain can't remember what thread it was on plus I'm dumb with computers.

One of the best reasons I can think of for reelecting Bush is so that one of these Democrat clowns can't be elected. Can you imagine? They were actually grooming Gray Davis to be President someday (and to be followed by Gary Condit). Argh!
Actually, to me, the best reason is so that we can have a Republican appointing the next several rounds of Supreme Court Justices and federal judges instead of a Democrat. We all know what the Democrat litmus test is for judicial appointments. A qualified candidate must be an abortionist/homosexualist/gun-grabbing/American-hating Godless liberal. None other need apply.
IMHO, the only way we're gonna turn around the slide into socialism is to have a complete turnover in the judiciary. This cannot possibly happen if we allow the Democrats to regain control over the White House or the Senate. The liberal's big secret is, whatever they can't get done in regards to advancing their marxist agenda through legislation, they simply get a liberal activist judge to enact from the bench. We're doomed until we can turn that around.

First, re: Shelley's (rather funereal) announcement tonight:
YESSSS!!!!!!
Re: Grayout's latest pity party: WAH. Welcome to the rule of law, pal. If the voters had known how bad the state was in debt BEFORE the election, chances are good you'd be an EX-governor now.
Or, don't you believe in truth in advertising? This was close to an election under false pretenses. It should say something that in 31 previous attempts at a recall, this is the only one to succeed - and it's not because we don't like your hair.

I heard on the radio tonight (I wish I could find an article to post) that Gray said that he and is wife are spending this hard time mostly alone together, reading Hillary Clinton's book.
How friggin' sweet.

That was almost verbatum from some dude interviewed on the streets. NBC local news.

What is it with Davis? Anybody got the inside info on his Hollywood look? The perfect hair, the chiseled face of John DeLorean (after plastic surgery), the Fritz Hollings teeth? Is this guy's appearance as phony as everything else about him? Anybody have an old picture of Davis?

Open Mic Catches California Democrats (AP) - Unaware that a live microphone was broadcasting their words around the Capitol, Assembly Democrats meeting behind closed doors debated prolonging California's budget crisis for political gain. Members of the coalition of liberal Democrats talked about slowing progress on the budget as a means of increasing pressure on Republicans. A microphone had been left on during the closed meeting Monday, and the conversation was transmitted to about 500 "squawk boxes" that enable staff members, lobbyists and reporters to listen in on legislative meetings.
