Shots rang out Wednesday afternoon at City Hall, sending reporters in the press room diving for cover beneath their desks.
The mayor was in his first floor office and was not harmed, said his spokesman, Edward Skyler.
The shots were fired shortly after 2 p.m., apparently on the second floor of the building in lower Manhattan. It was unclear if anyone was wounded when about a dozen shots rang out.
Police officers, including some in riot gear, were seen running across the plaza in front of the building once the shooting stopped. It was not immediately known if the shooter was in custody.
The City Council was holding a meeting on Wednesday, but it was unclear if the shooting was related to the session.

Reminds me of the NRA cartoon I have on the wall:
I wonder what they are thinking?
A) Clearly this person lacks problem solving skills.
B) What we need are more gun control laws
C) I wish I had a gun!
Don't mean to trivilize the situation, but I know what I would be thinking. Besides, it is all about them isn't it.
