Oh my goodness lonestar! How wonderful that you took "Granny's" (your Mom's?) wishes to heart and played along. That just absolutely choked me up. How many people would even bother?

It was fun. I was glad I did it because within a year three or four of them passed on.

I got into trouble because I only invited about 25 people and I would be stopped in the grocery store with "Why didn't you invite me to the Christmas in July party?" Little did I know it was the "social event of the year." I just invited my mother's friends and neighbors and people I would run into .

I made some invitations for her friends that were cute, said, "Christmas is a state of mind. Come help *Granny* celebrate."
