Mom says killed son mistaken for Lynch in Iraq (Sgt. Walters was the true hero)

HUNTINGTON -- A Salem, Ore., mother believes her slain 33-year-old son, a U.S. Army sergeant serving in Iraq, was mistaken for Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch during the ambush in which she was injured.

The Washington Post initially reported Lynch, a Palestine, W.Va. native, emptied two pistols during a fierce gun battle with Iraqi fighters on March 23 and was shot and stabbed before she was captured.

I'm glad you posted this. The article clearly says it is the fault of the Washington Post.

As much as I hate the Washington Post, this is an understandable mistake. If there was a blond from another vehicle fighting hard next to Jessica's Humvee in the fog of battle as relayed by radio chatter, it's easy to see why he as Jessica were mixed up.

The ambush was a big story. I don't fault them for reporting what they thought they knew. The alternative was to remain silent. Maybe some would prefer them to remain silent, but I prefer to know what they think they know.

How many book/movie/chat show/interview deals has she signed up for and has she got an agent?

Here is where speculating puts the cart before the horse. Chief Moose (DC) did this and it the facts are laid out. We have not heard of such a deal. Does the media want to make such a deal with Pvt.Lynch? Of course. I wouldn't put it past the vultures to be bugging her and her family while she has been recovering from her wounds and trauma.

I don't see why some people on these threads need to act like vultures, too.
