That is sad. As a teacher of Seniors, I have strongly encouraged several young men to go into the military. Mostly for discipline, college funds, etc., but also because some were "born for it." A teacher should never mold a child into something that they are not.

My senior year teacher told her students to go to college first, and then the military, that way they could be officers. She was a flower child, though kept a lot of rhetoric out of her teachings on Vietnam, Nixon, etc. A good teacher.
