Actually, Ramirez is a conservative. The cartoon is pro-Bush, decrying the lib's attempts to indulge in character assassination through petty politics. While I agree that the taste is questionable at best, there's no evil conspiracy here.

Sure it's fine. As long as it's a self proclaimed "conservative" pulling the trigger, everything is fine.

spot on. It's clearly meant to show the destructiveness of politics (read dems) on the Iraq situation. Tasteless, I agree, but hardly anti-Bush. People who don't accept our interpretation also don't understand Ramirez.

When I read your post, I went back and looked at the cartoon more carefully, and I think you're probably right. President Bush is shown as being the victim of an unprincipled thug, "Politics", with a gun to his head, while his hands are bound behind him (his lack of freedom to pursue justice since he is hobbled and chained by the politics of the Dems).

Thanks for another viewpoint. But you're probably going to hear about it from other freepers.

This is a delicate subject. I see what he's trying to say, but it is just not the type of image you want of your President and I think the cartoonist didn't really mean harm, but that's too much. The worst I've seen is with Craig Kilborn's Late Late Show showing an image of the President or candidate Bush speaking and 'snipers wanted' written across the screen. If anyone should have gotten in trouble and been jailed it was those vile people.

I agree. The cartoon is pro-Bush and depicts politics, read dummycrats, as being out of order.

You nailed it. The cartoon is pro-Bush, but in very bad taste.

OK, I see it now, and additionally he could be commenting on the futility of the Dem attacks; that photo of the street execution sure didn't do the South Viet govt any good...

Still, nobody should ever show a gun to the head of the POTUS or any other high official like that. Just ain't right.

Thanks UncleDick.

He's actually alerting conservatives to what the liberals are attempting.

Ramirez is outraged at what they've been trying to do to W.

I'm glad to read that someone else had that reaction.

The South Vietnamese officer who shot a VietCong guerilla depicted in a Pulitzer-Prize winning photo (from which this cartoon draws its literary heritage) was widely derided by the leftist press.

This is most definitely a comparison of the efforts of the politicians, i.e. the Democrats, to take down President Bush in an "extra-legal" manner.

A street shooting.

I thought it looked strange, but I thought the cartoon was portraying politics in a bad light, i.e. Democrats are holding a gun to W. It's making the dems look bad. Still doesn't look good though.
