Shaken BBC prepares to defend its reputation

They already defended their reputation. As a terrorist organization.

Mr Kelly told members of Parliament that from his contacts with Mr Gilligan "I do not see how he could make the authoritative statement that he was making from the comments that I made".

Oh, I don't know. I am sticking with my theory that Mr. Kelly was more critical of the intelligence reports than he let on to Parliament and gave Gilligan a roadmap for his reporting.

A team of top executives and in-house lawyers will begin assembling documents, transcripts and tapes relating to the intelligence dossiers on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and the corporation's reliance on David Kelly, the government scientist found dead last week, as its main source for those stories.

This should help tell the tale, though. I hope their findings are made known to tell what happened once and for all.

Kelly was known by the press as someone they could go to for a quote....an unnamed source if you will. But what Mr. Kelly didn't realize was he got in the tank with a Great White Shark called the BBC.... set on destroying Tony Blair and he paid with his life.

I believe Mr. Gilligan was last seen leaving on a three-hour tour.

A three-hour tour....

A man died because a BBC reporter was pushing his agenda. ......amazing.

Hardly the first time, they pretty much incited the assasination of Pim Fortuyn.

They ruined this man........the ba$tards.

Kelly had no business meeting with these reporters as he was doing. I really want to hear what he was saying. If he was trying to convince them that Blair was honorable and the reports fully supported Blair's rationale for war, that will be one thing. They will have lied about their source.

But I say again, he was meeting with these reporters secretly for a reason----to help or hurt Great Britain?

This is the nascent Mainstream Media Shenanigans ping list. Please freepmail me to be added or dropped.
Please note this will likely become a high-volume list.
Also feel free to ping me if you come across a thread you would think worthy of the ping list. I can't catch them all!

Too bad... I guess he let his own politics of being against the war get in the way from doing his job... I have no sympathy for the guy...

I really would like to know what caused the BBC to admit their duplicity, and cause the change in tone of these stories.

I hope we get to hear the evidence. The investigation will cover the transcripts, tapes and such. They must know the facts will come out.

Thank goodness the outrageous "Blair has blood on his hands" spin has turned back on the BBC.

"In the US, some TV networks have been criticised for flag-waving and unquestioning coverage of the conflict. "

"Commentators in the United States have characterized the BBC as 'the Baghdad Broadcasting Corporation,' and in Israel its correspondents have been officially shunned by the government of Ariel Sharon."

Perhaps it is time for Tories to shun the BBC. Blair can do what he wants. He reaps his own media whirlwind. I have no interest in a socialist administration except to see it defeated in the political arena.

The inquiry coincides with intense media scrutiny both at home and abroad. Sky News, the satellite channel controlled by BSkyB - in which Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation holds a controlling stake - last week announced the resignation of a senior correspondent found to have faked a story during the Iraq war.

We caught SKYNEWS in lies during the Iraqi fighting several times. Also this article fails to mention that Blair's govt is also in hot water over Kelly. The BBC is less in trouble than Blair is.

How could Gilligan making the whole thing up drive him to suicide? Umbrage at a false accusation would seem more the order of the day.

(Just trying to think it through. You could be right. I would love the BBC to be caught making up a story out of whole cloth)

Sure he has... Its obvious the BBC was exaggerating what that guy was telling them... He wasn't even a member of the intelligence services...

A man died because a BBC reporter was pushing his agenda. ......amazing.

People died so that CNN could have a bureau in Baghdad. Not to further an agenda, purely for the PR value of saying "We have a bureau in Baghdad and nobody else does." That's even sicker.

Both Blair and BBC are under inquiry:

Blair, BBC to front inquiry

In fact, this is Blair's third inquiry for foreign policy deception. The first was over his lies over Kosovo by parliment, the second about Iraq and now about this.

These investigations were lead by Labour, his own party. Blair I guess is a repeat offender.

"Why didn't he just come clean and say he was source and that what they wrote he didn't say..."

. . .thought he did say that. . .

. . .he denied being the source for the info as reported. . .'sexed up' the Iraq WMD info, et al. . .

Liberals are the same everywhere. . .when the truth does not fit their agenda; they make their own. . .
