I turned Fox off in disgust a few weeks ago, but happened to turn it on early this morning -- before the news about the devil's sons being killed -- and they were actually being somewhat apologetic about their constant harping on the deaths of U.S. soldiers in Iraq, saying that they would be dishonoring our troops' sacrifice if they didn't report it. The Baghdad reporter repeated the theme, and even listed a few "good things" that were going on before he launched into the latest casualty count.
It doesn't make up for Fox's doom and gloom herd mentality for the past month (and the fact that they really don't go looking for any positive stories) but it does indicate that viewers' complaints (and maybe a fall in viewership) is having some impact.
At best Fox is "fair and balanced", meaning no more conservative than liberal. But in fact if you take the standard of what is the best prediction of what will seem important in a hundred years from now, almost nothing "liberal" is likely to make muster. And if that's the situation with Fox, what is the situation with CBS!
