SSG Barry Sadler
Ballad of the Green Berets
Fighting soldiers from the sky
Fearless men who jump and die
Men who mean just what they say
The brave men of the Green Beret
(Chorus) Silver wings upon their chest
These are men, Americas best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret
Trained to live off natures land
Trained in combat, hand-to-hand
Men who fight by night and day
Courage peak from the Green Berets
(Chorus) Silver wings upon their chest
These are men, America's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret
Back at home a young wife waits
Her Green Beret has met his fate
He has died for those oppressed
Leaving her his last request
Put silver wings on my sons chest
Make him one of Americas best
Hell be a man they'll test one day
Have him win the Green Beret
(Chorus) Silver wings upon their chest
These are men, America's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret
What year was that 66? It seems that the first time I heard it was RA Camp and I think it was spring of my sixth grade year. I'll look it up. I still like Haggard best when it comes to protesters.
I was right 66. I freak friends out because I relate songs to places and times. Some people think I'm freakin catalog when they double check me. I don't do it on purpose it just happens.
BTW you're kind of new. WELCOME TO FR.
I have that album, and a "new" 1980's vintage turntable that's never spun. I should MP3 it.
