Lance Armstrong-Individual Time Trial Stage 12
CBS News and the BBC /OLN Live ^ | July 18, 2003 | Phil Liggett

Posted on 07/18/2003 6:45:17 AM PDT by ewing

Lance has called this race the most important time trial of his life so far to drop the hammer and not show weakness to his competitors going into the Pytenees Mountains, where he is expected to have a climbing advantage.

Lance is an Olympic Medialist in this discipline, so this should be in his wheelhouse when he goes out on the course within the hour.

Expect USA's Tyler Hamilton to excel as well as former winner Lance Ullrich, and for Lance to gain 3 minutes on the Russian Vinokourov who only trails by a scant :21 seconds right now.

Chrysler Corporation was to add a new car to it's line to honor Bill Clinton. The Dodge Drafter was to begin production in Canada this year, but the car had to be pulled out of production when initial tests showed that the little white lines on the road kept disappearing all the time.

Expect USA's Tyler Hamilton to excel as well

I heard yesterday that the French media are accusing Tyler of faking his broken collarbone!!!

How do you fake THAT?!

Bob Roll said last night during post game that Tyler would beat Lance by seconds head to head today, as well as Ulrich.

But they are 2 minutes behind and the Russian may lose big time from only being :21 seconds back

I just switched on OLN. I saw the thread & said, "I'm missing breakfast with Lance?" and clicked on over.

The BBC/OLN coverage is the best in the business, the shots on the motorbikes are so fast and dangrous I worry for everyone involved!

You could not pay me enough to stand up on the back of a motorcyle, face backwards & shoot this race.

BTW, if you want to know dumb, I saw a CNN story about the Trek bikes & they said the bikes were made in my state, Wisconsin. Why I thought there'd be ANOTHER Trek company from *someplace else *that made bikes identical to the ones made here is one of those failures of the brain synapses to work correctly.

French media are accusing Tyler of faking his broken collarbone!!!

BS!!!! I suffered a broken collar-bone many years ago. It's unfakable. And unforgettable. Continuing to race before the bone sets takes incredible grit.

And how do the riders know when/where the motorbikes are coming through?(the roads arent that big)

I do know Lance has earplugs and radios much like NARCAR Stock Car team spotters to communicate with his team leader during the race.

Tyler said that he would show the reporters his X-Rays if they wanted to know whether it was really broken bad..

It tells you the state of the European media in general and the French in particular, that they would even entertain this notion.

Something to keep in mind whenever you see them report on Iraq
