Perhaps it was always a self-serving illusion, and the Democrats were never anything more than the power-hungry, predatory coalition of insatiable appetites -- competing for government funds and favors -- that they have become today.....

Yes.

The issue and one that increase with each month is that items are pulled off the internet after a period of time. The links then become nonexistant. That is why it is important to post as much of the article as one can, provided that there are no legal issues, on this site. Free Republic is and will become a most amazing resource for Conservative historians...period. Don't believe me...

Grover Cleveland was the last Democrat that could read, understand and respect the Constitution, let alone honor his oath to protect and defend it. The socialists took control of the Democratic Party in the early thirties; there have been no leaders in the Democratic Party since who have followed the Constitution. Most have done their best to subvert it, and they have been far too successful. Now Republicans, including Bush, are willing to subvert the Constitution if they believe that it will help them gain re-election.

There is a way to Make a Difference!

It is more insidious than that. The Democrats have always been the party for the poor, for the dependent, for the oppressed, and for the downtrodden. As such, they have always had a vested interest in persuing policies which would maximize poverty, dependency, oppression and misery.

You summed it up more pointedly than I have heard it put in some time. Kudos!

One of the best reads on the subject is Thomas Sowell's book, "The Vision of the Anointed"--highly recommended.

Wrong-o.

BFD, that Formerly Democrat White Men see the light and at least switch their vote, if not their party affiliation. The Demos more than make up for this defection with very successful efforts among women(from 50% up to 60% among white women in any election); and anywhere from 75-95% among groups like younger voters, minorities, special interests, legal and illegal immigrants, and of course their most faithful constituencies, the dead and the absent. The more sensible guys who jump the rotten ship, the more the land 'Rats become determined to stay aboard and increase their numbers, by any means fair and mostly foul.

And as their Ace-in-the-Hole, they are running vote-fraud-scams in the big states that are absolutely blinding in their audacity and technical skill.

Donna Brazile said it all for the Democrats, "Just get me close,Baby; I'll do the rest."
