Baghdad, Iraq-AP -- The Pentagon's second-in-command is in Iraq to evaluate rebuilding efforts and thank American troops for their sacrifices and successes.

Paul Wolfowitz is also meeting with the top U-S administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, and the commander of American forces in the country.

Wolfowitz told reporters he's looking forward to seeing what he calls "evidence of what it means for the Iraqi people to be liberated from decades of brutal repression."

The deputy defense secretary also plans meetings with troops from a variety of Army and Marine Corps units. Wolfowitz hopes to emphasize the administration's commitment to killing or capturing Saddam Hussein.

Wolfowitz was a big supporter of the Bush administration's strategy for toppling Saddam. This is his first time in Iraq since the regime collapsed in early April.

Big supporter? According to the press, he was one of the main neo con (read jew bastards) bloodthirsty monsters pushing the dimwit unelected President to unfairly attack the compliant Saddam Hussein. Where's Katie Couric? She'll back me on this.

Actually there is a lot of noise floating around this AM that Wolfowitz is "the man" that insisted on the inclusion of the infamous "16 words" in the SOTU address.

These are from sources that I will not post from.

However, may explain his "trip" out of the country for a few days...
