The most dangerous routine incidents I see are soccer mom Suburban drivers on cell phones. I took my Dad to the doctor yesterday and in 15 minutes was almost slammed into twice...the second one was one of those long lock up brake skids after she had been tailgating me for 5 minutes.

I know what you mean. One nearly ran my husband down as he was walking at the train crossing. She went around the crossing guards, with the SUV full of kids! He had to jump hard to get out of her way. Ever heard of a ghost train, lady? or vehicular manslaughter?

I had one nearly nail me as I waited in the left turn lane. She was turning right and nearly nailed me as she struggled with her cell phone in one hand and her Big Mac in the other!

A couple of weeks ago I took a 800 mile RT and had four close calls. Three were with cell phone users; the other had two laborers in a van in heavy traffic obviously celebrating TGIF a little early.

Amen to that. I was nearly run over by just such a driver as I was crossing the street with the light. She drove through the crosswalk, and nearly through the red light before she decided to screech to a halt.
