Recently, I wrote a proud letter to the Republican Caucus supporting their efforts to block any tax increase in CA. I got a really nice reply from Brulte restating that our budget deficit is the result of politicians spending too much, not a result of the citizens paying too little in taxes.
Brulte knows that our supposed 'narrow partisan agendas' include not wanting to be bled totally dry of our hard earned money!

For their own good, I hope the Republican politicians in CA stick to THIS party line!

So Far.. So Good! They stand united.

Dave Cox was none too generous in his assessment of where we stand. The Republicans can handle the heat, pour it on the rest of the legislators on the other side of the aisle, the demRats. It's either make spending cuts this year or next.. and next year is an election year. :-o

California Socialism.. Living on BoRRowed Time ;-)

There is a good chance the Republicans will stick together. A recent poll -- Field poll I believe -- indicated that while Californian's don't want to see major cuts in their favorite programs, they are even more reluctant to accept tax increases. Raising taxes is not going to be popular.

Davis, however, is going to play the victim card very hard. He is starting to talk about all the social welfare programs that are going to suffer if the taxpayers don't fork over more dollars. Republican's will have to be able to handle the negative image being created -- and recognize that the majority of the taxpayers in the state are not ready to pay more.

"I want them to reconsider their position," he said. "Their unyielding posture against any taxes, at any time, will have dire consequences for this state."

Gray "Lowbeam" Davis and the CA Democrates don't realize it, but this particular stance is doing more to rebuild the tarnished image the California Republican Party than any recall ever would. Disaffected Republicans, Independents, even Losertarians across the state are seeing in this one face-off that their truely is a difference between the 2 parties--and the GOP is the Party of not raising taxes.

Keep talking Davis. Keep making this an issue, that Field poll the other day showed a 15% decline in people thinking that raising taxes at all would solve the budget crisis.Keep criticizing Lowbeam!
