Thanks for posting this, Luis. The world has lost a great singer. She's singing duets in Heaven with Beny now.

Damn. This is a rough one. I didn't even know she had been ill!

Celia Cruz
This is from "My Cuba" A book in which Celia wCruz was quoted (and yours truly, as well). It was compiled by Ninoska Perez Castellon and Mirta Iglesias.
My English translation:
Cuba is the land I adore. The place in which I was born-- where I took my first steps in the world of entertainment. It is the place where my mother lies and where I met Pedro. Of my little sandy place, I have beautiful and profound memories. It's that island to which I yearn to return some day. If I have a day left to live, my unconditional wish would be to sing for my country.

Luis,
May Celia rest in peace. I lived in Miami for three years. In Tampa for another three. Came to appreciate Cuban food culture and most of all the Cuban people. Please give some of us an idea of the "Best Of Celia Cruz". Your favorite songs. The best of "Salsa." Thanks.

She will be missed, Luis. Thanks for the ping, my friend.

My deceased inlaws just LOVED this woman. It makes me sad to think that she, like they, died before they could see a free Cuba! I truly believe that one way or another, Cuba will be free (Castro can't last forever..).
RIP Celia, and tell my inlaws that I love them and miss them, and that their new nietos are doin just fine...
