Cameron Diaz seeks to bar release of photos

LOS ANGELES -- Cameron Diaz is seeking an injunction barring the release of photographs taken at a private modeling session over a decade ago, before she was a star.

In the lawsuit, the 30-year-old "Charlie's Angels" star claims she didn't sign a photo release and that a release produced by the photographer is a forgery, her publicist, Brad Cafarelli, said Tuesday. He wouldn't describe the nature of the pictures.

Photographer John Rutter told the syndicated news program "Inside Edition" he had contacted Diaz's lawyers to offer them the photos before he sold them to any media outlets.

"This was a negotiation for a right of first refusal with Cameron Diaz's lawyers," Rutter said in a statement to "Inside Edition." "A few hours after her lawyers offered to buy the photos my place was raided."

A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office confirmed Tuesday that investigators searched Rutter's Venice apartment as part of a continuing investigation.

"Our office executed search warrants on June 30 involving an incident where Cameron Diaz is the alleged victim," said spokeswoman Jane Robison.

She declined to provide further details. No charges have been filed against Rutter. He couldn't be reached by The Associated Press for comment Tuesday.

There were few details available as to the contents of the photographs, but Rutter described them as "beautiful," "Inside Edition" reported. Rutter said he took the photographs well before Diaz's big break in the 1994 film "The Mask."

"LOL I knew I was in troble when hubby bought that digital camera! ; )"

Ha-ha! "But honey, I burned the printout so don't worry."

Actually, a long time ago I did the gentlemanly thing and burned the polaroids - with her watching. Wish I had a digital camera back then.

You can bet that Diaz did sign the release. She just doesn't want these pictures to come out now that she is a big star. These are not hardcore pictures just the "soft" stuff that most actresses will do nowadays.

Diaz is striking today but is going to age harshly. Look at the outfit montage in The Sweetest Thing and you'll see that her face can't hold up. Nowhere near a classic beauty.

That's baloney. Just a picture doctored to make her look bad. I worked with her before she was famous. A genuine beauty.
