New Delhi: The Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, the banned anti-Shia militant outfit in Pakistan, has claimed responsibility for last week's attack on a mosque in Quetta, Balochistan, in which 53 devotees were killed.
The Pakistani daily, The Nation, reported that a video tape and a letter was sent to the BBC correspondent stationed in Quetta and the news was broadcast by the British television network.
In the tape, a 17-year-old boy, one of the three suicide bombers, is shown delivering a 10-minute speech against the Shia sect. In a letter delivered along with the tape, the writer accepted responsibility that Lashkar-e-Jhangvi was involved in the attack.
The attack was to register protest against the Pakistani government, President Pervez Musharraf, the Shia community, the US and neighbouring Iran.
Following the incident, the Pakistani media had talked of a "foreign hand" and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali had alluded to India setting up consulates in Herat and Kandahar in Afghanistan. The Afghan government has formally rejected the charge that any mission in its territory was involved in any such incident and was abusing the diplomatic immunity. It pointed to varying claims by the Pakistani military and police authorities that contradicted Jamali.
Oh, Brother! Yep, must be Hidooos or the Great Satan. Couldn't be any of those Wahhabi Sunnis (including dozens in the Pakistani parliament) who regularly spew hate and issue fatwa's against Shias, claim they aren't real Moslems, are an offense to The Prophet, should be denied visas to Mecca, etc.
