IRAQ 'N' ROLL!

THE SEX PISTOLS are promising to play a benefit concert in Iraq's capital BAGHDAD for the country's people.

Along with announcing the dates for their US tour, the band revealed that they want to play in the war-torn country.

According to Ananova, John Lydon - Johnny Rotten - said, "I am definite about it... The red tape is lining up thick and fast, and the more they put up, the bigger the scissors."

He added, "If you are going to offer these people democracy, then offer it to them in their fullest extreme so they fully know what they're walking into."

He added: "Because democracy has a few problems, mate, and the The Sex Pistols know that, but at least we can shout out about it, and that might be of some use to them."

The gig will add to a line of bizarre performances by the band, including the impromptu 1977 boat concert on the River Thames, when the band sang 'Anarchy In The UK' for Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee.

The original line-up of Lydon, guitarist Steve Jones, bassist Glen Matlock and drummer Paul Cook will kick off their tour on August 20 in the country Lydon refers to as 'the new Russia' under the Bush administration.

The dates are:

Boston Fleet Boston Pavilion (August 20) Wantagh Jones Beach (21) Atlantic City Trump Marina/Grand Cayman Ballroom (23) Washington DC 9:30 Club (24) Toronto Molson Amphitheatre (25) Cleveland The Scene Pavilion (27) Detroit Cobo Arena (28) Chicago Aragon Ballroom (29) Englewood Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre (31) San Francisco Warfield Theatre (September 3) Las Vegas The Joint (5) Los Angeles Greek Theatre (6) San Diego San Diego Street Scene (7)

How in the hell are all these outsiders getting permission to visit an occupied country? Can anybody just go there for any reason?

Well slap myself alongside my head. If we can't control our own borders at home why should I expect we could do any bteer 10,000 miles away.

Sure this makes sense -- you offer Democracy to people so the first thing they need to see is that Democracy allows a bunch of pathetic anarchists to scream at you.
