When you say "our" own companies, which ones do you mean? The ones you own stock in or the ones that have their charter registered here?

Beth Steel.

The question was; why should profits stay in this country?

You answered your own question in post 404. productive use developing new ideas, products and productivity.

You did mistake this part though "instead of supporting some labor union slob trying to make $35 an hr to sew some hems up." No business is successful if it doesn't pair management and labor as a team. Without workers the business output is zero. Without owners no job exists. An agreement of fair days pay for a fair days work is crucial to a business' harmony. This doesn't matter in a commmunist/slave economy such as Red China. Isn't free trade based on the concept of free to be fair. If one side imposes fifty percent tariffs isn't it fair that the other side is free to impose their own tariff?

When I see folks give tacit approval to the foreign government's use of tariffs while trying to deride Americans for wanting even competition it smacks of following these handbook goals:

4th Goal Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.
5th Goal Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet Satellites.
6th Goal Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.
7th Goal Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.
14th Goal Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent office.
15th Goal Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.
44th Goal Internationalize the Panama Canal.
45th Goal Repeal the Connally Reservation so the U.S. cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

If it was one corporation dumping A product it would be easier to counter. When it is a nations whole economy used in this manner against another it is economic warfare IMO. Designed with the express purpose of destroying the middle class. Please tell me as a free trader if you support any of the goals I have listed.

You answered your own question in post 404. productive use developing new ideas, products and productivity.

Those things are the benefit, not the reason. They benefit some at the expense of others. The question is; why do you think some people should do better than other people who live in a different locale. It's a moral question.

An agreement of fair days pay for a fair days work is crucial to a business' harmony.

Your idea of what is fair maybe different than mine. I like the agreement part too. Minus the force used by government and union thugs. Take their force and violence out of it and then see what the fair price of labor is.

When I see folks give tacit approval to the foreign government's use of tariffs while trying to deride Americans for wanting even competition

Who are these people? Not me. I have never advocated government interference in private business transactions, no government. But hey, that's the only way for you guys to argue a point. Mischaracterize what someone says and then villify them in myriad ways. Your imagination is endless in this practice. Yours has a new wrinkle. Post a bunch of nonsense goals of some whacko organisation and then try to associate them with the person you disagree with. The liberals do it all the time.

I simply asked you if you agree with the goals or not? I am still waiting for a yes/no answer. Avoiding direct answers and changing the subject have also been attributed to Liberals.

why do you think some people should do better than other people who live in a different locale.

Precisely because they do better. I am not in favor of equal outcomes for anything. I am however in favor of equal opportunities on a level playing field. For any business labor cost are a major overhead. If one company utilizes a slave wage workforce and then dumps inferior quality products at a much lower price than a company making a similar product at higher quality, then the balance has been tilted in favor of the slavedriver acquiring initial market share for that product. How do you even the opportunity for selling back out? Correct me if I am wrong but you seem to be advocating penalizing the employees (union slobs) of the business owner operating fairly by saying let the lower cost producer (which is state subsidized and also has tariffs in place on your goods) trade free. This will force the competition to either cut labor cost by reducing wages/benfits already agreed to or pack up the shop and find their own slave workforce. I contend this is exactly what is happening to the American manufacturing industry and that is why I say IF you are aiding it then you are a mercenary selling out your relatives, friends and countrymen. This will be my last post to you but i would still appreciate a direct answer to my question. I have tried to do you the courtesy of answering yours, please do likewise. Thnak you in advance.

BTW for someone that takes the moniker of an avowed agnostic you sure are busy lecturing others about morals.

You must be soft, I owe you nothing. And I don't answer moronic questions.

And the moniker has nothing to do with beliefs, it has to do with debate.

When the garbage collector makes more than our childrens' teacher, something's a bit wrong with collective bargaining!

Actually, the reason garbage collectors should make more than teachers is that the garbage collectors successfully collect the garbage.
