How many Clarence Thomases do the Democrats have lined up? Hell, how many conservatives of any stripe do the Democrats have lined up?

If the Democrats had their way, the top tax rates would probably be north of seventy percent. Most of us would be paying probably double what we're paying now. And the minimun wage would probably be approaching $25 per hour.

Yes, I'm thankful for what we have, in the big picture. But we are settling for less. If the Republicans didn't capitulate so easily on BIG spending bills, in the name of the 'new tone', we might be much better off. What's the point of spraying billions all over Africa? Or getting involved in Liberia? Or buying pills for seniors? To get the ever elusive black or gay or AARP vote? Wouldn't it be easier to abolish the IRS and become politically immortal that way? It ain't brain surgery to me. Why then don't they do it?

From everything I read, no matter who is in the WH we are headed there when the Baby Boomers age. Or we will default on our loans from other governments. So how, by Bush and the GOP increasing spending, are we going to stop this snowball coming down the mtn, now that it has started?
