I'm outraged by what the man did to the puppy. I'm outraged by abortion. Just as the United States can focus on more than one element of the War on Terrorism at one time, I can be outraged by more than one thing at once.
I understand the point that the pro-life people are making. They are stunned that people aren't similarly outraged by abortion. But the replies often sound like they are trying to downplay the brutality to the animal. Both are brutal. Both should shock. By all means bring up that abortion should shock, too, but don't suggest that what this man did to the puppy shouldn't shock.

It seems the de-sensitization is complete! Many times I have told people about the details of abortion, they do not care. If you talk about doing these things to a cat or dog, you know, some animal they take care of (even if they have kids) usually drives the point home. So many murders seen on TV every night, it has come to a hurting family pet being more wrong than hurting a human. How many times at the end of movies do you see the words "no humans were injured in the making of this film...?"
