July 14 (Bloomberg) -- A car bomb blew up today outside the headquarters of the U.S.-led coalition in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, an unidentified U.S. military policeman told Agence France-Presse.

Details of the attack weren't immediately available.

Coalition forces began a crackdown on Saturday aimed at armed groups opposed to the U.S.-led occupation, arresting 226 people, as one American soldier was killed and six were wounded today in the latest attack on a military convoy, the U.S. Central Command said earlier today in e-mailed statements.

The Democrats "delusional thinking" is that their "brilliant" propaganda of "He lied" is bringing down the Bush poll numbers.
In reality, The democrats are being ignored, and they're cutting their own throats with their self aggrandizements and hate.
The Iraqi terrorists are doing it. I know Bush is working on that the best way possible. For each military death, Bush weeps. I'm not blaming Bush, and most people don't because the war is justified, but people are growing impatient. They need to know their soldiers are secure.

Car bomb detonates outside coalition HQ in Baghdad: US military police

A car bomb exploded outside the headquarters of the coalition forces in the centre of the Iraqi capital at around 16:40 pm local time on Monday, a US military policeman said, without reporting casualties.

"It was a car bomb," the policeman said on condition of anonymity, while witnesses added nobody was inside the vehicle at the time of the blast.

Diplomatic plates were on the wreckage of the burnt-out sports utility vehicle at the site.

"Suddenly we heard a loud blast and a fire started in the car," said Khalid Khalil, 35.

He said he spotted "a man in black jeans running" away, although he was not sure if the man was involved in the attack on the foremost symbol of US power in Baghdad.

The explosion rocked the main parking area outside a series of checkpoints and razor wire passages to enter the Baghdad convention center, one of the hubs of the US and British team of diplomats and military running the reconstruction of Iraq.

At least 10 military policemen closed off the entrance to the coalition forces headquarters and sealed off the area around the destroyed vehicle.

A fire truck had pulled up to the scene while military helicopters buzzed overhead.

The blast comes as US officials warned of attacks on the coalition forces coinciding with the July 16 anniversary of Saddam Hussein becoming president of Iraq and the July 17 commemoration of his Baath Party's rise to power in 1968.

I certainly hope casualties are low in this attack. It hurts every time one of our young gets hurt or killed over there, but we have to stay the course or we will suffer more.

If we let the Democrats harp on this and turn it into "Vietnam" or a "quagmire", eventually we will pull out of Iraq and nothing will be proven except one fact we dont want to prove. If we pull out, it proves Americans have lost the stomach to fight for freedom and not one thing has changed.

We've done it in Beirut, Somalia, and Vietnam, and the enemy will use the same tactic time and time again to fly in our face and break our resolve. Thats the proof we need.

I watched two of my brothers go off to Vietnam, and remember watching the news headlines every night to see if they survived the day. It wasnt pretty. War isnt pretty. But if we let ourselves fall for a political loss in this war because our liberal pals want to make political hay, we have just negated everything these kids are fighting and have died for.

Freedom is NOT free. There is a lot more to this war than just simple democratic political crap. Its about freedom, clashes of cultures, and our childrens futures.

We cant lose this war because of a few bed wetting pansies who want to make political points every time a soldier is killed. We MUST win this war to prove to the world we will not back down in our pursuit of freedom.

The soldiers in Baghdad know this is at stake. its time we knew it too.

The people you need to blame for the continuing fatal attacks on the American military is the Democrat Party. Their words and actions put our soldiers in harm's way and they embolden the enemy terrorists to keep attacking. The Democrat Party has our military blood dripping from its vile hands! All Democrats are traitors and guilty of treason! The American people better wake up and get rid of these anti-American vermin!

Iraq to Send Delegation to U.N.

SNIP

Later Monday, an explosion destroyed an empty car in a parking lot used primarily by journalists to cover events at the Baghdad Convention Center, near where the council had met earlier in the day and the site of most press conferences given by coalition officials. The car, a black four-wheel drive vehicle belonging to Tunisian embassy officials, was not occupied at the time, and there were no injuries, witnesses said. Security was tight after the blast.

``I think it was a bomb,'' said Iraqi policeman Qasim Mohammed. ``The explosion was very loud, and had it been a grenade, it wouldn't have been that powerful.''

Mohammed said he believed the explosive device was thrown under the car shortly before it exploded.

The parking lot is about a quarter-mile from the site of the council meeting, which is in the same compound as the convention center.

I hate the Dems probably more than you do, but can you like shut up? You sound screechy and your argument is way melodramatic.

Dems do suck in a horrible way, but make the arguement palatable and coherant.

At least no injuries from a car bomb..... this time.

``I think it was a bomb,'' said Iraqi policeman Qasim Mohammed.

since President George W. Bush declared on May 1 that the main military operations of the war had ended.

Actually, he declared an end to major combat ops. Military operations in security and civil affairs are now the hot topics, although thank God our troops are still conducting offensive strikes to root out the cowardly vermin.

About 20 years ago Terrorists came within an inch of leveling Air Force Headquarters at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. One of the canisters containing explosives did not go off, but was blown through a wall into the building.

It's good to know former Ba'ath Party and Alqaida members are not involved. Just Democrats, although it's hard to imagine how they can prowl the streets of Bagdad by night and be back at their desks in DC in time for roll call.
