Grant wasn't a drunk and only an ignorant southerner would think he was. Try opening a book sometime before embarrassing yourself in by flaunting your ignorance in public.

Ah, "ignorant Southerner"? Really? My history books indicated Grant was a big time binge drinker. He could go without liquor for months, but when he started to drink he found it hard to stop.
It seemed to ebb and flow around conjugal visits by Mrs. Grant .. when she was near, he was sober as a judge. The truth seems to be that he was not a steady imbiber but a sporadic and then quite the spectacular drunk.

Ulysses Simpson Grant
Born: 4/27/1822
Birthplace: Point Pleasant, Ohio
Ulysses Simpson Grant was born (as Hiram Ulysses Grant) at Point Pleasant, Ohio, on April 27, 1822. He graduated from West Point in 1843 and served without particular distinction in the Mexican War. In 1848 he married Julia Dent. He resigned from the army in 1854, after warnings from his commanding officer about his drinking habits, and for the next six years held a wide variety of jobs in the Middle West.(Emphasis added so you wouldn't miss it)
You are obviously a dumb, sour Yankee (but wait...is that triply redundant?)
