The original headline on the abortion article in the Jackson, MS, Clarion-Ledger, bourbon, just made no sense. It may have been understandable from a MS standpoint, but for this forum it would have been impossible to make out, it seemed to me.

that's okay. It doesn't really bother me. I just wanted to tell you about the posting protocol in case you didn't already know about it. There are some folks on FR who are real sticklers when it comes to abiding by the "rules," and they'll hammer you on threads if you don't follow them yourself.
As an accomodation to the "rules," I typically use some parentheticals to add info. to the actual headline when the headline alone wouldn't make sense to other FR users. For this article, I probably would have done this: "Groups: State [Mississippi] chips at choice [(ahem)...abortion]." As I said, this is a particularly lame headline, so it's difficult to improve upon. If only the C-L would let us be in charge of writing their headlines, there wouldn't be any problem, would there? :-)
