Good article, good list.
Downer probably has some financial support lined up that hadn't given as of the last deadline. Jindal is looking strong. Blossman and Kyle don't seem to be gaining traction at all. They'll probably stick it out, but if they're not getting support so far I think it's unlikely they'll catch fire later.

The problem for the GOP is that the two top candidates are Democrats: Blanco and Ieyoub, and the potential third-place candidate, Ewing, is also Democrat and close to Senator Breaux. So the GOP looks shut out of the process, with Jindal, Blossman, Kyle, and Downer dividing a small base.

Ieyoub is a greasy slimebag.

Jindal IS in 2nd place, just ahead of Ieyoub, in the most recent poll, I believe, 11% to 10%.

I was under the impression that it was Blanco,Ieyob,Ewing, then Jindal, but when its 14,13,12,11,10, etc., presumably anything could happen. But in that Ieyoub is the favorite of the black community and the parish officials, he must ultimately be in first place for the Oct. 4 primary.

I read somewhere that Mrs. Ieyoub votes Republican for president, kind of like Governor Foster in that regard perhaps.

Maybe so. All I know is that I met Mr. Ieyoub once, and he gave me the heebie-jeebies. He was like Edwin Edwards without the charm; like a bad snake oil salesman.

It doesn't matter about personality in LA in every instance, with Edwin Washington Edwards being the obvious exception. Name ID and the support of blacks and sheriffs can get the most stiff person elected. His stiffness did not keep him from being elected attorney general. But he could lose a general election runoff if personality becomes foremost.
