Lack of Intelligence: Making policy is the President's job, not the CIA's

The flap over who baked the yellowcake uranium story is so transparently political that it is tempting to ignore. But now that Democrats and other opponents of deposing Saddam Hussein are demanding a full-scale scapegoat hunt, by all means let's consider the uses and abuses of intelligence.

The sad fact is that the democrats don't care about the country.

They don't care about our pride, our sovereignty, our reputation, or the sanctity of the office of president.

They don't care about the intelligence services, the military, or the men and women who sacrifice daily.

They don't care about anyone or anything but themselves and their power base. Everything else be damned! (for one or two stinking votes)

As Ann said, "They are traitors!"

"a Congressional probe that would give free TV time to Democrats running for President."

BINGO!! WHOOOO HOOOOO!! THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT!! FREE TV TIME.

Does anybody know why they need the free TV time ...?? It's because McAwful SPENT THE MONEY ON NEW DIGS FOR THE DNC - ESPECIALLY HIS OFFICE - and the candidates can go punt!

Some Evidence on Iraq Called Fake
U.N. Nuclear Inspector Says Documents on Purchases Were Forged

By Joby Warrick
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, March 8, 2003; Page A01

A key piece of evidence linking Iraq to a nuclear weapons program appears to have been fabricated, the United Nations' chief nuclear inspector said yesterday in a report that called into question U.S. and British claims about Iraq's secret nuclear ambitions.

.....

Knowledgeable sources familiar with the forgery investigation described the faked evidence as a series of letters between Iraqi agents and officials in the central African nation of Niger. The documents had been given to the U.N. inspectors by Britain and reviewed extensively by U.S. intelligence. The forgers had made relatively crude errors that eventually gave them away -- including names and titles that did not match up with the individuals who held office at the time the letters were purportedly written, the officials said.

"We fell for it," said one U.S. official who reviewed the documents.

A spokesman for the IAEA said the agency did not blame either Britain or the United States for the forgery. The documents "were shared with us in good faith," he said.

One minor point of disagreement with the article: The author states that intelligence should be a tool of policy and not a determiner of it. I'd say that intelligence should be both of these things, a small matter over which I choose to split hairs in the wee hours of the morning. Not a bad editorial, though.

The ad declares that "it's time to tell the truth," but the ad's video clip of Mr. Bush's 16-word State of the Union sentence omits the crucial words: "The British government has learned that . . ." The Democrats are themselves lying about Mr. Bush's non-lie.

I caught MSNBC doing this little trick as well, I was screaming at the TV!
