I know what you mean. I have a Seiko wrist watch and a wedding ring. Nothing else and I don't care for anything in the jewelry department.
I had those cool boards and concrete block bookcases for ages and a lime green vinyl couch I got at the Slavation Army for $10. I drove a 73 Pinto station wagon that I bought for $400.
Life is really good now. I think it pays off for many of us to struggle like our grandparents did.

Lol I got ripped off! I paid 40bucks for my Salvation Army Couch which was yellow plaid and broken in I hated sitting on it. My Pinto was $300 I took the seats out of it and made tie downs for my sons infant size WheelChair.
Ya I thank God everyday for how well we survived. It was hard honest living IMO.
I met with an old dear friend after many years who just finished her Masters and we talked about how nice life is now.
The Oregon rural range/coast for us is a wonderful place to live out life.
In fact slowing down a little to savoiur every moment.
Its good to be Oceanperch and King Vanity> :) :)
