Trooper Kevin Marshall was part of the State Emergency Response Unit. He was wearing a bullet proof vest when he went inside the suspect's home in Fremont Monday night - with tear gas. The bullet struck him in his side, where he was not protected.
A memorial fund has been set up for Marshall's children's college education.
