You are referring to what seems to be standard practice these days. I have worked for a company called Air Liquide America (parent company in Paris the frog bastards) for three years, but last year they decided to outsource all IT and telecom to a Canadian company (french canadian, based in Montreal) called CGI. I have been training the THREE Canucks that are to do my job in Ontario for the last two months and when I am done...adios to me. I have no intention of shooting myself, but it's a good thing I don't have my finger on a button controlling a missile targeted on Paris or Montreal.

There's other ways of making sure that you can come back as a highly paid consultant to the company that laid you off so they can save a buck. Course doing so would be highly unethical, but its not like they've been so with you, right?
