What a ridiculous story. Is this the kind of news that the folks at the Clarion-Ledger think we want to hear? (Don't ask silly questions, Bourbon! Of course it is).

Could I really care less about what our candidates eat? or how hard their campaigning is? or how their "busy schedule" interferes with their exercise routine?

Musgrove said he often skips meals because he's so busy talking to folks at barbecues or Kiwanis Club meetings.

Boo-hoo. Some people actually skip meals b/c they're busy WORKING.

"People are always pushing food at you," Barbour said.

Don't complain. It's free! Jeez, these folks sound like celebrities complaining about the contents of the gift bag at the Oscars!

I've found that the food in Jackson generally being better than Nashville is not good for my diet either.

For a city of its size, the food in Jackson is outrageously good. What's really neat is that the food is good across the board, from greasy spoon joints to haute cuisine. IMHO, it has better restaurants that both Nashville and Birmingham, and they're much larger cities.

When we got there, we tried Hal and Mals and Crechales (yes..we ventured into Injun Country at nite) and Bravo....all were closed for the 4th. We ended up at Mozzarellas on County Line...a chain. Oh well.

My cousin's shrimp fest the next nite was excellent though. (Eliis clan in Clinton Yudan, your dad knew them well)

The odds are that an editor told this reporter to get a "light-hearted" story about the Mississippi state election campaign "for Sunday," and this is what the paper came up with. Probably the recent attention to the fatty nature of foods sparked such a story line, wouldn't you think?

Mozzarellas Cafe? You mean the chain formerly known as Silver Spoon? WD, they had one of those at the Cool Springs Galleria. They have one in Jackson?!?!?!?

If you were in Jackson, you shoulda tried Keifer's. The gyros are great and the beer is the coldest in town. The only place where I'd rather have a macro-brewed malted dishwater than a handcrafted ale.

Amy Tuck works out at my gym. I see her in there maybe once a month...maybe.

She has a personal trainer, but it doesn't seem to have done any good. Pasty white thighs full of cottage cheese. Yuck.

Yeah, you're probably right. I just have a visceral distaste for the Clarion-Ledger, and I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning.

Please don't take my critcism of the article to mean that I don't think that you should have posted it.

If you won't tell anyone, I'll let you in on a secret. I actually kind of like getting angry at garbage I read in the paper. :-)
