I was frustrated with that response. It's not an issue to ignore, in my mind, but the prevailing attitude on this site seems to be one of "If Bush says it, it must be so." That's an awfully shortsighet attitude.

The "awfully shortsighet" prevailing attitude for Saturday July 12th 2003 is: 'If Bush says it, it must be so.'

Tomorrow's special is: 'If the media says it, it must be so', served with a side of 'If polling data says it, it must be so.'

It is in many ways a child-like attitude as well, and to me seems horridly naive and in general misguided. While the current politician in the WH is much more in line with the beliefs of this site than the previous one, or than gore would have been, he is still a politician, and far from perfect.

Some comments on the current pol in the WH
1) he has actually cut taxes, easily one of the very hardest things to make a government do.
2) After terrorist attacks he has embarked on a geo-political reorganization of the MEast. The jury is still out on how this is going to work out, but 'at least he is doing something.'
3) The economy faces a problem, to say the least. The fed is nearly out of bullets in the rate-cut gun, the housing market has been artificially inflated beyond reason by the huge drop in mortgage rates (a ticking time-bomb which the fed has more control on the timing of its unravelling than they did with the stock market bubble), and I am not sure there is really a lot the government CAN do about this.
4) I don't have time to keep adding, but feel free to add comments. There are a number of areas, good and bad, that this administration acted in...
