Stunning and telling that he won re-election so recently.

Also, a sad state of affairs when so recent an election can be overturned. If it succeeds, the Lefties will use this tactic when it is not warranted.

Not when you consider that he lied about the deficit until just after the election.

Thirty or so previous recall attempts have failed to make it to the ballot. This is more widespread than the domocRATs would have you believe.

I think you're right. In addition, whoever the governor is, they are going to have to cut spending and reduce services mightily to get the budget under control, then keep spending limited for years. There is no way Davis' replacement will be anything other than hated by Californians addicted to the nanny state, that is to say, most of them. Let Davis stay in office and take the heat, or let him resign and the democrat lieutenant governor take the heat. Republicans have little to gain by taking on the beast before it reaches critical mass.

How so? It is perfectly lawful and civil. Leftists already use the courts to overturn elections by appointed judges, why should they bother with a vote?

The Republican (especially the CRP), fear of the left wing mouse is what got us to this unbearable spot in the first place.

Non-sense. Dems might want to recall a Republican governor, but couldn't manage it. Davis' incompetence rises way above partisanship.

You appear to be forgetting that the hallmark of the American left is that they cannot win in even a reasonably fair democratic process. This is, of course, why their only long-term agenda successes have come from the judiciary, i.e. from arbitrary decisions by one or a handful of their toadies. So what if the lefties use the recall process -- California's is more poorly designed than most, in that it does not provide for a majority or specific high plurality for the successor candidate -- but that doesn't invalidate the notion of recall itself. If they think they could get 50%+1 to kick out (insert your favourite politico here), let 'em try. They can't, of course.

More recalls, not fewer, are required, and nationwide. The filth (of either party, thank you) who lie their way into office have little or no fear of the wrath of the electorate, and it's high time they acquired some...or a lot.

Well, that's how California's constitution was set up.

If they can get the signatures, they have the right. It'll make them look petty.

There is no downside to this recall effort.

Most voters will use common sense when contemplating whether or not to recall a governor.
