The chief federal judge for Southern Illinois said Wednesday that U.S. Attorney Miriam Miquelon is under investigation by the Justice Department and lied about why she is resigning.
The eruption by Chief District Judge G. Patrick Murphy, a highly unusual departure for the decorum-conscious federal judiciary, was met with a steely denial from Miquelon.
