Truman sent hundreds of thousands of anticommunist Russians, Ukrainians and others back to the USSR at the end of WWII (Operation Keelhaul). Stalin murdered most of them. One group at Fort Dix, N.J. was taken by an armed guard and put on a ship to be returned. When they rioted and tried to sabotage the ship, they were drugged into submission. Harry Dexter White, a Soviet Agent, and his boss, Henry Morgenthau pushed that operation. The two of them also wanted Germany deindustrialized and kept in abject poverty after the war. When their plans were made public, the Nazis used it for propaganda. It is the main reason why Germans fought to the bitter end in the west--they knew the Red Army would occupy all of Europe if White's and Morgenthau's plan were enacted.
