Perhaps if he had swung a foam bat at the sausage girl and she knew it was coming, it might have been more humorous.
Regardless of sausage girl's comments, his explanation seem as weak as the fine he was charged.

If this had happened in San Diego, he could have choked the chicken.
Instead he slammed the salami.

I saw the video of the incident in question, this was after hearing about it. Listening to the radio versions, it sounded like he did some real damage.
After seeing the video, he barely tapped the 'Brat - like enough to knock her off balance.
non-issue, to me, anyway.
Are you a lawyer, by chance?

Heck no, I'm not a lawyer! I just don't like seeing pro baseball players weilding bats at sausages! Re-read his lame excuse for doing it in the first place; it doesn't make sense.
I don't want to throw the book at the guy, but shame on him for how and his excuse why he did it.

Sounds more like a Monty Python sketch than a baseball game.

"It wasn't that big of a blow," Block said. "I think just because I'm so small and it's such a big costume that I tumbled."Kudos to Mandy Block for graciously keeping this incident in it's proper perspective.
Simon's senseless act was nothing more than adolescent horseplay that backfired.
Thank-goodness nobody was seriously hurt, and let's hope that Simon has learned enough from this incident to realize that he owes the young lady something more than just a public apology.

weilding bats That is kind of the point I'm making - he did not "weild" the bat.
He was trying to have some fun, sophmoric type, but he meant no harm to the unsuspecting 'Brat.
Hell, if I was a pro player looking at what, 150 - 160 games, I'd be doing stupid stuff to.
There was no intent to do harm.

Schlesinger: "This is one of the most outrageous things I've ever seen inside a ballpark or outside a ballpark," he said. "It sickened me to see it."
Three words, Mr. Schesinger: "Lighten up, Francis!"

It struck me as it did you...in order to make something like this up, we must channel the Monty Python crew.

I've met a few scum-bags like this Simon guy. Think they can do anything they want since they are protected by powerful organizations, ie: dirty cops, Klinton. I hope the girl sues, just to make problems for him.
