I have news for you, Bill Simon is his own man. Sal may be his consultant, but Bill makes up his own mind.

Well Dave, I just hope we get the recall in the fall without a hitch...but I am skeptical yet hopeful...I really like McClintok but I realize that the three millionaires(Simon, Arnold & Issa) have their own bank and it may be out of the question for McClintok to raise the kind of money needed to run against them.

If it's Simon calling the shots, then I'd say he's absolutely unqualified for the job of Governor.

Example #1: The "smoking gun photo" that he released after last year's debate, which (he claimed) showed Davis accepting a campaign contribution in a State office; Which instead was a legitimate donation made in a private home.

Example #2: Going into business, including giving over $23 million dollars, with a publicly-known and federally-convicted "drug lord," before waiting for the results of a background check that his firm authorized.

Not to defend Davis (he needs to go!!) but Simon's baggage combined with Sal Russo's incompetence at running a campaign, threaten to split the anti-Davis vote in the Recall. In fact, it makes the Recall precisely what the Democrats say it is: A re-run of last year's election.

In my opinion, over one million Californians who signed those petitions deserve better.

I wish, but I doubt he'd be able to raise the money.

In reality, it is probably a long shot but if the whole group of GOP potential candidates got together and backed McClintok he definitely would beat anyone the Dimwits put up I think including the seventy year old Feinstein.

Hey, I'd let Arnold be point man in my squad anytime! Or he could lug the mortar or BAR too! LOL

Folks, We can roll over and play dead which is what the CA GOP leadership does every election , it would seem lately, or we can try and motivate voters and ventilate their heads which are full of media lies and distortions.

I've opted to do the latter and try not to alienate too many folks among the way.

Hiram Johnson wan;t greatly loved in his day, altho he was on the par with Teddy Roosevelt, imo. There's something about corruption, waste, fraud and deceit that pisses me off to no end.

Roll Over, Hell!

Oh, and I heard an Issa radio ad , not bad, I salute him for his money and efforts. I don;t think he'll win but that is my gut feel only. We all know Davi$ and what he and his ilk will stoop to. Oh, Man, this election campaign is gonna be a nasty one. I can hardly wait.

I believe the "firm" in question did not perform as they were requested. The investigating co. came back with a negative report -- meaning they didn't dig deep enough. So in this case the Simons were defrauded by 1) a crook and 2) incompetence from a nationally known investigative firm.

Anyway the only ones who spout this junk (or for that matter believe it) are the left wing hacks. Simon has been vindicated over and over again since the last election.

Sorry to inform you, but if you did your homework (meaning, read the actual case file), you'd see that Simon and Sons didn't wait for the results of the background check, before handing over $23+ million to Ed Hindelang.

Being a responsible Conservative, in my view, doesn't mean closing your eyes to the facts. Also keep in mind, Simon lost jury decisions 12-0 and 11-1, on this same point. It's not a matter of ideology; Simon just isn't competent to handle a $38+ billion deficit, if he can't run a competent campaign!

If that's all you have its a pretty weak case. We've heard it all before.

Dan -- I'm calling your bluff.

Have you read the actual civil case file? Or, are your comments (admittedly) uninformed?

If so, what's the jurisdiction, case number and the names of the parties in the case?

Dan --

What was the name of the Security firm that handled the background check for Simon's firm?

AS I recall, and I may be wrong, I believe DeLoitte and Touche were the firm responsible for checking the background, they may have contracted it out to an actual investigative agency, but PLease. .. Can't we move on?

No, Dianne Feinstein.

It will take years, a bankruptcy, and a complete housecleaning of the Assembly and Senate to straighten out the sorry State. Let DiFi and the Dems take the blame for it.

Most important, however, it gets her out of Washington. Then she can only eff up California, not the entire nation, with her kooky ideas.

R99,

I don't need to prove myself to you. I know a lot about all of this as other freepers will agree, but it was last year and I don't recall a lot of the specifics like the firm names, the case #, or what weight of paper the filings were printed on. You can dig it up in the news archives if you want but I don't see how those details make any difference for this level of discussion.

Dan,

The reason why these questions are asked, is to discriminate between the folks who actually pull up their own facts, and those who just spin others.

In this day and age, it's an important distinction when arriving at some measure of a truth rather than just another flack's bull-.

Generally I do my own research (which explains my FR name), and I encourage others to do the same.

Well goody for you.

I absorb the facts and I forget the trivial stuff since I don't have any need to prove anything to anyone. It's usually pretty evident that I know what I'm talking about. Stick around and you'll agree.

Dan,

How can this matter be trivial; The simple fact of when Simon's firm authorized the background check vs. when Simon invested over $20 million with a drug trafficker (responsible for over a half a million pounds of contraband)?

Even Simon admitted it himself in his book; You must ALWAYS research the background of those you go into busines with!

If you defend that kind of ignorance, why not defend Davis' handling of the Energy Crisis, by claiming it was all an Enron scam (as the liberals say)?

IMO, we deserve better than Simon -- perhaps Issa, who actually got involved when the chips were down on the Recall Campaign back in May.
